Matt Pearce is a Los Angeles-based journalist and journalism advocate. He is the president and a founding officer of Media Guild of the West, a rapidly expanding local union of The NewsGuild-CWA that represents journalists in Southern California, Arizona and Texas.
Matt has advocated for legislation to expand press freedom for working journalists, to protect and develop local journalism jobs, and to create a more sustainable marketplace for digital media workers.
Matt was previously a longtime staff reporter for the Los Angeles Times, where he covered national news, national politics and internet culture. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri and hails from a small town outside Kansas City, Mo.
